Day 17: Your favorite Drama character?

Let me just start this off by saying I can’t ever have one favourite drama character. I’ve already seen too many dramas, and love characters because of their different personalities. It’s like making me pick a favourite food – I can’t. I want my mac n cheese and my tiramisu, my steak and my blackberries.

Favourite Male Character: Akiyama Shinichi from Liar Game

Played by Matsuda Shota, Akiyama is a brilliant ex-convict who is drawn into the “Liar Game” by a naive college woman named Kanzaki Nao. He saves her (and multiple players) over and over during the game. He’s adept at psychological warfare and a mathematical genius, and retains a cold-detached persona for most of the series. However, he does reveal bits and pieces about himself over the seasons. I think part of the reason I like him so much is because of his intellect – he reminds me of Sherlock Holmes. I also appreciated the lack of noble-idiocy 😛

Favourite Female Character: Go Eun-Chan from Coffee Prince

Played by Yoon Eun Hye, Go Eun Chan is a hardworking 24 year old who has numerous jobs to support her mother and sister’s flippant views towards spending. She cut her hair because it was easier to take care of, and as such is easily mistaken for a boy. In fact, Choi Han Gyul mistakes her for a man and hires her as his gay lover to ward off unwanted blind dates. I chose Eun Chan because of her friendly, easy going personality – she is loyal and dedicated, passionate about life, and funny to boot. I would love to have her as a friend.

Favourite Child Character: Bin Bin from Perfect Two

Played by Xiao Xiao Bin, Bin Bin is a little boy sent to live with his father for a few days – except he doesn’t know Ah-B is his father. He’s adorable, cheerful, and plucky – whenever Ah-B was mean to him Bin Bin used Ah-B’s toothbrush to scrub the toilet. Pahahahaha. Their relationship was beyond cute – just look at that photo!

  1. Yay for Akiyama making it on your top fave characters list!!!! Matsuda was awesome in that role. He made a kind of anti-hero hero and his intelligence and lack of trust in people made up for Nao’s horribly over the top innocence and trusting personality.

    1. I know! I was having horrible horrible flashbacks to ISWAK’s Kotoko when watching Nao in Liar Game. They definitely should have just made the show around Akiyama. He can be an evil mafia/overlord, I’d still watch it and cheer him on. 😛
