This episode causes more troubles for Tian Xing, and it also looks like we have a second lead!
You can watch Fall In Love With Me on Dramafever here:
We left off with Tao Zi pinning Tian Xing up against the wall. Her co-workers get her to let go of him, and he tells her that even if something happened to her company she’s not allowed to cry. Her employees can, but she, as the boss, must endure and not show weakness. Tao Zi runs off back to the other rental house, and Ting Wei tells them to let Tao Zi be for now.
When Tian Xing goes to find Tao Zi later, he spies her crying, looking at the window asking her brother what to do. Ting Wei slowly approaches Tao Zi, and sincerely tells her that he’s seen her grow up, and will always be by her side. Hmm, I smell a second lead.
Tao Zi and Tian Xing bump into each other the next morning, and after Tian Xing leaves she notices that he forgot his wallet in his room. Looks like both of our main characters are trying to good deeds, as Tian Xing is meeting with Lance (the kind of skeezy guy who he doesn’t seem to think highly of), rebuking him for stealing the contract bid. Lance notes that Tian Xing is acting worried over a small company for nothing, and tells him to shoo and enjoy his 3 month vacation.
It’s time to meet another supporting character, and boy does she look like a doozy. This is Huan Huan, a fashion designer/celebrity. Funnily enough, she stops to question a security guard whether he was checking her out…and then cheerily offers him an autograph. She runs into Tao Zi outside Tian Xing’s company and assumes she’s a female fan, signing her backpack even though Tao Zi wears a confused look on her face. Inside, Huan Huan (i’m calling her HH from now on) sneaks up behind Tian Xing and
throttles hugs him around his neck. He looks less than thrilled to see her, and Lance tells him to keep his sister company. No wonder Tian Xing doesn’t like Lance. Tao Zi finally manages to sneak past the office secretary to return Tian Xing’s wallet, and he challenges her not to be weak.
Tao Zi relocates to a park bench by OZ, and imagines her brother giving her advice. He disappears when she asks what to do about he company, and is replaced by a living breathing Xiao Lu who cheerfully hands her a drink. Tao Zi invites him over for dinner, and although Xiao Lu tries to get out of it, Tao Zi won’t hear it.
And so it is that as soon as Tao Zi’s mom recognizes Xiao Lu, she tries to attack him with a sword. HA. Luckily his butler is there to stop the blade, although it doesn’t really help Xiao Lu’s alibi. His butler pretends that he mistook him for Tian Xing, and punches him in the face for lying. Hehe. Tao Zi’s parents grudgingly accept that Xiao Lu isn’t Tian Xing, and Butler Fu starts to flirt with Tao Zi’s mom, saying that her fried noodles are made with two secret ingredients….chicken soup….and tenderness. Pfffft.
Their shared past is revealed later, and it turns out that when Butler Fu went to the army, Tao Zi’s dad took the opportunity to win over Tao Zi’s mom.
At the office, the team decides to find part time jobs until they get another project. Tao Zi is touched by their dedication, and crossly scolds a magazine picture of Tian Xing that’s been graffitied and stabbed. Meanwhile, Tian Xing gets an idea for saving OZ, and calls up a different company regarding transferring the original ad plan.
Xiao Lu finds her later in a chicken suit passing out fried chicken pamphlets, and helps her finish distributing them. At one point he bends down to tie her shoelace, and it seems like Tao Zi is touched by his care. I like that Tian Xing’s character isn’t cold, and actually shines through more with Xiao Lu. He cutely asks Tao Zi her favourite number, and tells her to close her eyes and make a wish – at the end of her count her wish will come true! Tao Zi counts, but opens her eyes and doesn’t see anything changed. A heartbeat later though, her phone rings with the news that another company has picked up OZ’s ad proposal.
Xiao Lu sees the beat up photo at the OZ office, and winces at the thought of the darts. Tao Zi excitedly presents the plan for the new ad bid, and announces that she wants to get an “aunt Liang” to act in their ad. Ting Wei looks concerned at this, and we find out when Tian Xing talks to Butler Fu that Aunt Liang was a famous actress who became estranged from her only son, and retired from acting as a result.
Tian Xing comes up with a way to give Tao Zi the reason behind Aunt Liang’s retirement, because he knows that she’ll fail without understanding the actress’s reasoning. He invites her to a dinner, and belittles her so that she sits down and orders dinner. He notes that she pulls out all the shallots from her dish, and a fed up Tao Zi pulls away, telling him that she doesn’t care if he knows the reason, he’s wasting her time.
Tian Xing angrily grabs her wrist, stopping Tao Zi from leaving. He yells at her for having no patience, no endurance, and the fact that she wasn’t even willing to wait 10 minutes for a chance at information to save her company is the reason why OZ is failing. She’s pigheaded and has neither the endurance nor the humility to survive in the business. Tao Zi tries to pull her hand away, and Tian Xing’s watch gets stuck in the hair.
So…..Tian Xing tells her to stop so that he can untangle it. Tao Zi gets weirded out with Tian Xing being so close to her, and throws his arm away as soon as he undoes his watch.
The watch flies off and hits the bar counter before landing with a crunch on the floor. Ouch. When Tao Zi finds out the price of the watch repairs (it’s a 001 limited edition global watch), she blanches and asks if she can pay back the money in monthly installments. Tian Xing agrees, in return for an IOU and collateral. He takes her watch, which appears like it might have been her late brother’s.
Tao Zi imagines her brother again in the OZ office, and promises to sincerely convince Aunt Jiang to act in their ad. Xiao Lu meets her in the office, and they share an adorably smiley (and awkward) drive to the actress’s apartment. She grumpily turns them down flat though, and when the two run into the across the hall neighbor, Xiao Lu takes the opportunity to get the reason behind her retirement out. The neighbor also shows them a postcard from the daughter-in-law that the actress refused to look at, and Tao Zi takes photos of the address and family so that she can track down the son and bring him back. Privacy breach much?
Back in the office, everyone is working on finding the daughter-in-law. Ting Wei brings Tao Zi some oatmeal, and looks thoughtfully over at Xiao Lu when Tao Zi praises him for his smart thinking. A little while later, Xiao Lu looks over at Ting Wei smiling at Tao Zi, and you can see the gears turning in his head.
There’s a bit of an abrupt change to the Tao residence, where Tao Zi’s mom questions Xiao Lu again as to whether or not he’s Tian Xing and giving Tao Zi grief. Ting Wei breaks the tension, and offers the two parents their favourite snacks. Looks like someone is definitely in second lead territory. Tao Zi’s mom is so thankful she starts to give Ting Wei a painful looking massage, and decides to give Xiao Lu one as well. Remembering what Tao Zi said about her mom recognizing people’s bones, Xiao Lu tries to get away….
I rather liked this episode. The way Aaron’s been playing Tian Xing and Xiao Lu, it seems like Xiao Lu is a way for him to be carefree, and more true to himself. I also really like how the drama has set him up as a challenger to Tao Zi, so that even in both personas he’s guiding her, rather than just being a prick for the sake of being a prick. I hope to see Tao Zi really grow over this series, but so far Tian Xing seems to be pretty perfect. HH is annoying, but I suppose that is her purpose. Ting Wei is mostly just sad looks so far, so I hope he has more interesting screen time (and expressions).
