30. Which Asian drama are you anticipating for the next season?

Next season??? We just started the summer crop of dramas! BUT, some dramas that are soon-to-be-airing that I am very much excited for include: Tiny Times (http://mydramalist.com/chinese-drama/5473/tiny-times), The Family (http://mydramalist.com/chinese-drama/5766/the-family), Sennyuu Tantei Tokage (http://mydramalist.com/japanese-drama/6275/sennyuu-tantei-tokage), and Chocolat (http://mydramalist.com/taiwanese-drama/5549/chocolat).

Tiny Times (drama)

Tiny Times (upcoming movie!)

Sorry for not having english subtitles on the videos though 😦

I’m not quite sure where the “next season” starts, but here are two upcoming dramas that I’m super stoked for!

Jie Hun, Hao Ma? (along the lines of How About We Get Married?) starring Xiu Jie Kai and Tian Xin.  I don’t know too much about it yet, but it has Xiu Jie Kai as the main male lead, so I’m excited!  I hear Tian Xin will be playing a single mom and the story revolves around the social expectations regarding marriage and having a family.

I’m also looking forward to Heirs starring Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye.  I love both leads so I’m really excited for this drama!  I’m not so sure about them playing students (especially Lee Min Ho), but the writer of Heirs also wrote Secret Garden, which I loved, so I have high expectations for this one too!

29. How many Asian dramas have you seen in total?

MDL has some handy dandy stats: Dramas: 34, Episodes: 564, Movies: 18, Days: 22.89

Ditto about MDL: (but this is only the ones I’ve remembered to input into MDL, so the actual count is probs higher… #nolife #asiandramaaddict)

Dramas: 78, Episodes: 2196, Movies: 16, Days: 78.83

28. Favorite thing about (your favorite actor/actress)

Their onscreen chemistry. Just kidding. Sort of. No really, if an actor doesn’t do chemistry well, I don’t tend to like them. Sue me. I also love love love actors who can do serious roles (cough black and white).

My favorite thing about Ella Chen: She’s so funny, carefree, charming, open, and just willing to be herself in the entertainment industry regardless of others’ opinions or judgments, and I commend her for that.  She can sing super well (yay SHE!!!), and although she is a singer turned actress (which, as I’ve mentioned, I have my biases but they don’t always turn out great), she has stood up to the challenge and excelled in both singing and acting.  Through all the interviews and whatnot I’ve watched of hers, I can tell that she is a very optimistic, happy person, and always spreads that joy and happiness to those around her—her enthusiasm, silliness, and positive attitude are very contagious 🙂

27. Favorite Asian drama(s) of 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010

2007: Coffee Prince

2008: Fated To Love You

2009: Black and White

2010: Sungkyunkwan Scandal

2007: Hana Kimi, Corner With Love, Summer x Summer, Coffee Prince

2008: Fated to Love You, Story of Time, A Journey Called Life, Moonlight Resonance

2009: Starlit, Mo Nu 18 Hao, Beyond the Realm of Conscience

2010: The Fierce Wife, Autumn’s Concerto, Down With Love, A Fistful of Stances, Can’t Buy Me Love, Secret Garden, Prosecutor Princess

26. The funniest Asian drama you’ve ever seen

You’re Beautiful! Only because of the amount of meta humour though…so if you’re not familiar with Korean pop culture I’d say Hana Kimi would be a good equivalent.

ella dream

Hana Kimi hands down.  I don’t think I have laughed so hard for any other drama!  The combination of Ella and Jiro, plus the premise of the drama/manga itself, it was just all too perfect.  The actors didn’t have any “baggage” as idols either, so that opened the doors to even more silliness and scenes that were just so over-the-top/dramatic/ridiculous (in a good way of course).
